POSTPONED: Recognizing and denying the trauma of the others

The speaker, Martin Auerbach, has not been able to travel to Norway due to the war situation in the Middle East and the closed airspace, and we have therefore decided to postpone the event on March 10th. We will make another attempt in the fall, and hope that the situation will then make it possible for him to travel

The Holocaust and the Nakba are historical traumas that characterize Israeli and Palestinian society. Hear Martin Auerbach talk about how these traumas leave their mark on subsequent generations, how they are intertwined, and the challenge of recognizing the trauma of “the others” in an asymmetrical conflict. Martin Auerbach is the former director of AMCHA Jerusalem – Israel’s national center for psychological support for Holocaust survivors and their families.

Auerbach’s lecture will be followed by a discussion led by Claudia Lenz, researcher at The Norwegian Holocaust Center, and Steinar Ims, head of Education at the The Norwegian Holocaust Center.

The event, which is in English, will be streamed.

The event is part of the series In the Shadow of War - the Way Forward, which is a collaboration between the The Norwegian Holocaust Center and the University of Oslo.
