Attitudes towards Jews and Muslims in Norway

The Norwegian Holocaust Center has led research on attitudes towards Jews and Muslims in Norway for a decade. Three major surveys conducted between 2011 and 2022 make it possible to observe the development of attitudes over time. The center's latest survey from January/February 2024 shows an increase in antisemitic attitudes in the Norwegian population after several years of decline. 11.5 percent of respondents have pronounced prejudices against Jews. Negative attitudes towards Muslims are stable but still very widespread.

Attitudes towards Jews were surveyed for the first time in 2011, while attitudes towards Muslims were surveyed for the first time in 2017. In 2022, a separate youth survey was added. The surveys also included separate Muslim and Jewish samples who answered questions about their own experiences and minority relations in Norway. Attitudes towards Roma have been included in all survey, exept the survey from 2024.
